How To Choose The Best Kids Mini ATV
Mini quad, mini bikes, buggies, go-carts, etc. – these are the options. For one second, let us assume that you do not have to wrestle with the issue about finances. How then, can you choose the best mini ATV for kids? It all boils down to one thing: the actual rider himself or herself. Sure, it is a thrilling thing to see your kid riding a mini quad, but is he or she comfortable with it? Instead of making the rider work for the vehicle, it would be best to find the ideal or almost ideal set of wheels for the rider. For this, there are certain things to consider.
1. The Actual Skill Of The Rider. Is your kid a novice or a veteran in ATV riding? Is this the first two-wheel drive he or she is ever going to ride? Would your kid prefer the 4- wheel drive instead? Novice riders may not particularly enjoy more powerful rides like some of the newer mini quad bikes, especially if running miles through rough terrain is not their thing. Others prefer more technical trails on their mini bikes. And then, there are others still who prefer cross country challenges. Whatever their choice is, it is always important to take note of the riding skills of the kid. This is one way of ensuring safety.
2. The Actual Height And Weight Of The Rider. These two factors are often overlooked. However, the actual height and weight of the rider is important especially if you are thinking of buying him or her a mini motor bike. For one thing, if the bike is too tall, the rider would have a hard time mounting and dismounting the ride. And that is asking for trouble to happen. The same can be said for four wheel drives. Your kid’s height dictates how he or she can reach the floor pedals and the steering wheel. Sometimes, even adjustable seat features will not ensure your kid’s safety, especially if safety harnesses are affected. Secondly, suspension is an important element when it comes to ATV. If your kid is too heavy or too light for a mini motor bike, the vehicle’s performance may be affected as well.
3. Bolt-On Features, Additions And Alterations To The Kids’ Mini ATV. Believe it or not, some of these tricked out additions to the bike, especially those found in used vehicles, can be unnecessary and may cause a lot of maintenance problems afterwards. Needless to say, these can also cause a lot of unintentional expenses in the long run; and may even be an accident waiting to happen. Again, the rule of thumb is: the ride should conform to the skills of the rider and not the other way around. Consider only bolt-ons, additions and alterations on the vehicle only if it is truly essential – and only if your kid can handle them.
Most alterations are done to gain peak performance for the ride, especially in a competitive set-up. However, if riding a bike is done for recreational purposes only, you might want to do these alterations only to ensure the safety of the rider. If your kid wants his or her ride “pimped,” try to make him or her realize the fact that ATVs are for riding, and not for displaying.
